To escape her cruel uncle, independent Lady Anita agrees to a marriage of convenience with the Duke of Redford. Expecting a meek and complacent wife, the duke is surprised by Anita’s spirit and determination, qualities that soon challenge his expectations for a loveless arrangement. This is a lovely story. I enjoyed Anita’s determination and appreciated how Redford evolved from seeing Anita as a woman in need of his care to an equal partner. Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC.

Like the historical aspect of the story and a marriage of convenience is not always what it seems to be. Especially when the characters meet and are totally unprepared for the attraction and the perception of what the other person is supposed to be like. Good read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I enjoyed how a need for a wife saved a poor woman from a terrible fate and how it led to a better life for many. The romance, which grew suddenly into true love, was delightful. I recommend reading!
