I love a rough and rugged cowboy, so this one appealed to me. Egan does technically fit that bill, but that's pretty much the best thing I found in this one. The romance is a second chance for Jordan and Egan, so I expected things to move quickly, but given the emotions between them in the beginning, this one moved at warp speed. It just doesn't ring true. Not even a little bit. I mean, the animosity between them is enough that Jordan believes Egan capable of trying to kill her in the beginning, yet they're moving in for a kiss in a matter of hours. Considering the level of Egan's grief and pain, I don't buy it. We also have a mystery to solve - who is actually trying to kill Jordan and why? Sadly, that was just as far-fetched as the romance for me. It's pretty obvious from the beginning even with a handful of red herrings thrown in. It is a quick read, and there are some tense and exciting moments, but for me, the writing is rather simplistic, and the story is rushed and not at all believable.
