About this ebook

He loves the sweet life

Greg Hutchins is reluctantly adulting these days. He’s settled in his job, recently bought his first house, and has a network of friends he can call family. But there’s something missing in his life, and he can’t quite put his finger on it. When he’s assigned to a case that involves investigating a biochemical company, he meets a woman who’s sweeter than any candy. Maybe she’s just the thing to make him feel complete.

She’s ready for the future

Noelle LaVigne has faced plenty of tragedy in her life, but she’s on the right path now. Between her new job and settling into a new city, she’s got no time for dating or relationships. She’s worked hard to get where she is, and no man is going to push her off track. Except the minute Hutch crosses her path she can’t seem to think about anything but the handsome security expert. He’s there to find a corporate spy, but late-night work sessions make her think they’ve both found something much more meaningful.

A twist they never saw coming

When the case becomes dangerous, both of their futures are on the line. And when the bullets start flying, they will have to learn to trust in each other if they hope to survive.

Noelle LaVigne worked hard to get to where she is. She overcame a crippling car accident and learned to walk again, went away to college, lives on her own, and now has a job that allows her to continue her research. Working for Genedynamics is a dream job until Noelle suspects someone has hacked into her computer and her coworker had an “accident” in her lab one night. While home, Noelle mentions this to her father Armie LaVigne, the sheriff of Papillion, Louisiana. Calling in a favor from Ian Taggert, Noelle is assigned a bodyguard, Kyle Hawthorne, and a tech wizard Greg “Hutch” Hutchins to help her find out what is going on at Genedynamics. Together the three of them try to find out what is actually going on with the company and its owner Jessica Layne. Submission Impossible is the first book in the Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded series. We have met the characters in this story as young children. This story takes place as they are all adults and the crew at MT are older and raising teens. Noelle, Hutch and Kyle all have issues that they have to work through as well as the job of keeping Noelle alive. There are some absolutely hysterical moments throughout the story with Kyle sounding as sarcastic as Ian. There are scenes of d/s in the story and some rope play, but the focus of the story is the relationships between the characters as they work together to find out what is going on at Genedynamics. I really enjoyed this first book and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Hutch was everything I hoped for and more! He is also not looking for anything permanent but falls completely the moment he meets Noelle. He messes things up a few times, but with help from his friends he keeps things on track until he learns to do it himself. Noelle is just starting a new and exciting phase in her life, and she has lots of doubts about herself as well. While both are extremely intelligent, they have issues expressing their feelings clearly to the other. Even when Noelle sees it all falling apart, once she logically thinks through things, she sees the reality over her emotions The story was full of twists, turns, excitement, subterfuge, and mystery. I loved every second because you never knew where the next seemingly innocuous thing would take you, or when what seemed so apparent became murky. We also get the set-up of the big bad, which seems even scarier than the last big bad, so more suspense and action are coming, and you can just taste it!

Great ride. Love the clever heroine/protective protector who stuck his foot in his mouth trope hahaha! There's some great character development. All the characters in this series are well rounded and relatable I find. There are a few call backs to characters we've met in previous books, but I don’t think it interrupts the enjoyment of the book as a standalone, even if you've not read them. Some interesting phrasing choices, but I don't think they were typos or grammar issues. Just artistic choices. Good level of heat, but real focus on the mystery/action, which is my preference. Very satisfying all the way round and looking forward to the next in the series!
