The ATEE Spring conference takes place every other year and is organized by the University of Latvia. The Spring conference in 2013 was the sixth such conference. The contents of this book contain the best articles written by participants at the 2013 conference, and present the exchange of ideas between European teacher educators, in addition to experiences, research and ideas from outside Europe.
European experience, knowledge and research support the general enhancement of the quality of teacher education throughout the world. As such, this book stimulates dialogue between teacher educators, researchers on teacher education, students, teachers, employers, politicians, supervisory bodies, NGOs and other groups involved in teacher education and research, and innovation in teacher education.
Ineta Lūka is an Associate Professor and Head of the Language Department at Turiba University. She is also a Senior Researcher at the University of Latvia, an expert in pedagogy and education management at the Council of Sciences of the Republic of Latvia, and a research member in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Education and Research Hub for Lifelong Learning. Her research interests include intercultural competence, language competence, lifelong learning, and the quality of higher education.
Lūcija Rutka is a Professor at the University of Latvia, and an expert in education at the Council of Sciences of the Republic of Latvia. Her research interests focus on teacher psychological competence and assessment of educator practice in teacher education and school development.
Irēna Žogla is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Latvia, an expert in education at the Council of Sciences of the Republic of Latvia, and a scientific adviser of doctoral research. She is also Head of master’s degree programme in education. Her research interests include teacher education, school development, and theories and practices of teaching-learning.
