I tend to read the sample first if I'm not familiar with the author. I'm glad I'd did. The writing was like listening to a 13 year old girl tell me about her night. Nothing at all to marvel at. Nothing to write home about. Nothing to remember really. Frankly I think I should be paid for my time wasted reading that mess.

This book just seemed like the authors take on a modern version of "thirteen" and it just didn't live up to the standards

Lindsay Hunter is the author of the story collections Don't Kiss Me and Daddy's. Originally from Florida, she now lives in Chicago with her husband, son, and two pit bulls. Ugly Girls is her first novel.
