About this ebook

Death favors no one.

In the bustling industrial cities of Victorian America, soot clouds darken the skies, plaguing citizens with black lung. Rich or poor, young or old, no matter their station, no one can escape the life-threatening disease, and the West family is no exception.

Struggling to survive, Lizzy's family flees to the New Territories, seeking refuge for her ailing mother, only to discover more devastation awaits them.

As the world crumbles, Marshal Cunningham fights to keep the town of Sagebrush in order and the demons in his past at bay. Lizzy bears scars of her own, and the grim realities of this turbulent world challenge her at every turn. Yet, with each violent storm and gut-wrenching truth, hope sparks anew, and these two strangers find solace in the most unexpected place.

In this gritty, emotional tale of love, perseverance, and second chances, Borne of Sand and Scorn sets the tone for the epic gaslamp dystopian adventures in the Forgotten Lands Series.

Am intriguing prequel. A good short read, setting up the scene for the series. It is very interesting to read about the days before the actual collapse of society and some of the issues that the characters went through. It has a nice, dusty western feel within a gloomy, alternate future.

About the author

Lindsey Pogue is an adventure and romance author, whose post-apocalyptic series include the superhuman survival saga, Savage North Chronicles, the dystopian, weather-ravaged Forgotten Lands, and the virus-riddled world of The Ending. Her romances include the small town, blue-collar, new adult trilogy, Saratoga Falls Love Stories.

Lindsey is a dyslexic, taco loving nature girl who enjoys sunsets, bonfires, and a nice cold gin lemonade on a warm summer night. She wrote her first story about birds in 3rd grade, completed her first new adult manuscript in high school, and has been writing tales of love and friendship, history and adventure ever since. When she's not plotting her next epic storyline, or dreaming up new, brooding characters, she's wrapped in blankets watching monster flicks with her own leading man. Lindsey and her husband live in Northern California with their rescue cat, Beast.
