About this ebook

ONE OF OPRAH MAG'S BEST ROMANCES OF 2020!

Everything has a price . . .

Railway magnate Tom Severin is wealthy and powerful enough to satisfy any desire as soon as it arises. Anything—or anyone—is his for the asking. It should be simple to find the perfect wife—and from his first glimpse of Lady Cassandra Ravenel, he’s determined to have her. But the beautiful and quick-witted Cassandra is equally determined to marry for love—the one thing he can’t give.

Everything except her . . .

Severin is the most compelling and attractive man Cassandra has ever met, even if his heart is frozen. But she has no interest in living in the fast-paced world of a ruthless man who always plays to win.

When a newfound enemy nearly destroys Cassandra’s reputation, Severin seizes the opportunity he’s been waiting for. As always, he gets what he wants—or does he? There’s one lesson Tom Severin has yet to learn from his new bride:

Never underestimate a Ravenel.

The chase for Cassandra’s hand may be over. But the chase for her heart has only just begun . . .

Most disappointing book so far... The conflict was almost nonexistent and their romance was rushed into the last few chapters. The book was short and to the point and was overall a drag. I couldn't even get through the last 2 chapters.. Although I have never minded that her books are somewhat repetitive when describing the characters & their interests when reflecting from their POV, in this case it felt like filler to take up the pages, especially with how short it is compared to her other books. There was a lot of potential for this book however it fell extremely flat.

like the others here, i also waited with bated breath for this book. I was curious to see how characters like Tom Severin and Cassandra would be developed but unfortunately, they came across 3/4-baked. There was much potential to explore Severin's childhood experiences more and have Cassandra confront or engage them directly but these were skimmed over. Regardless, the book was a good read, the first half was better than the 2nd, and for a chance to see the other characters again plus to bring a closure to all the Ravenel stories. My favourite from this series is still Marrying Winterborne. The characters there were special.

After having read all of the Wallflower and Ravenel series this is my second favorite book by Lisa Kleypas. The first being Devil in Winter about Evie and St. Vincent. Tom has to be my favorite male protagonist of all of them just because he seems so real to me from his mannerisms, choice of words, and even his logic. I loved his theories on all the novels and how he wasn't really flowery about professing his love. It felt very much him. The only reason it got 4 stars is because it was a little shorter.
