About this ebook

Uncover the dark secrets of a family's past...

Amy Penrose knows how it feels to grow up in a home where your parents harm you more than raise you.

Now an adult, she’s a newly qualified child psychologist and hopes to help children who’ve gone through struggles of their own.

When a father brings a 12-year-old boy into her office, she recognizes the bruises and the way the boy withdraws into himself. Upon learning the boy's mother is missing, she wants to help.

But life is never that simple. With a boyfriend at home who believes her career shouldn’t be more important than getting married and having children, and with a boss who seems to want her to stay late all the time, but not for work reasons, and with other patients who need her, Amy is torn.

As she delves into the family’s past, and starts to feel unsafe in her own home, she wonders if this is one child beyond her help.

I wonder if there will ever be a cure for whatever this is called in both kids and adults....most people can't fathom what it would be like living without any kind of emotions and it's a very real condition that is both fascinating and very scary to think about, especially if it happened to one of your own IDs or someone you love deeply. A nice respite from FBI mysteries and the usual female heroism thing....

How could the writer have done so little research - the most basically educated know that hurting animals is one of the first sign of some form of psychosis! Yet the ' dismiss es" this as curiosity!, Further the story is set in London - couldn't writer have bothered to research word usage? Common use of the word 'guess' as opposed to 'think', or suppose '
