If she thought that the duke raped her sister, then why did she keep kissing him. When the sister saw him and made no reaction, why was she still thinking he did it. She refused nice clothing for illogical reasons, she was a spinster with no money why would she turn down a duke and face poverty. Finally, towards the end, she began to figure things out but did not realize that she could be pregnant. The duke began to face up to his bullies after they conned him.
