About this ebook

Ruth was a ghost of a girl when she arrived into foster mother Maggie Hartley's care. Pale, frail and withdrawn, it was clear to Maggie that Ruth had seen and experienced things that no 11-year-old should have to, that she's been conditioned to 'see no evil, speak no evil'. Ruth is in desperate need of help, but can Maggie get through to her and unlock the harrowing secret she carries?

Through love, reassurance and patience, Maggie starts to unravel Ruth's painful past - a past defined by cruelty and abuse by the very people who should have protected her. Raised by a cruel stepmother and her father after her own mum abandoned her, Ruth was abused, underfed and ignored, while her half-siblings lived a life of luxury. It's up to Maggie to help Ruth find her voice; to be a ghost no more, and bring those who've harmed her to justice.

A true story of hope from Sunday Times bestselling author Maggie Hartley, a foster carer for over 20 years.

I can't believe how cruel the people who were meant to look out for this little girl were to her 😓😓 A rollercoadter of emotions reading this book I am just glad that Ruth had a happy ending and hope she enjoyed being reunited with her Mum and they have shared many more happy moments... Hats off to Maggie wonderful how she turns all these children's lives round... This book deserves all 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🤗👍

I absolutely love all of maggies books and cant wait for the next one to come out. Stories of absolute heartbreak, hope, strength and love. And proof that a lot of hard work can absolutely change a childs future.

I have only just started reading this book this morning. I am really inspired by this book, so interesting. And I can really relate to this book. As I have been in foster care too. And I am now adopted into a big family. The book has really opened my eyes more an my heart, makes me want to foster and adopt a child. Thank you Maggie for this amazing book. X
