About this eBook

Magnus arrives in the Arctic for severe-weather training, overseen by an international joint task force, but run by military brass. With multiple countries involved and multiple divisions of the military, it’s a wide-open mix of potential trouble. And trouble is what he’s here to find. Not to create. However, after meeting the one and only doctor on-site, a female member of the British team, Magnus knows that she needs his help to keep her safe. Yet she can’t be his main interest, not when something is seriously wrong at this Arctic training compound. Too bad his heart wasn’t listening …

Dr. Sydney Jenkins had been a last-minute replacement for the doctor scheduled to be here. Sydney had been delighted for the new experience, until she arrived to find all hell breaking loose, almost on her first day. Men missing, accidents that shouldn’t be happening, and her medical clinic targeted. Not sure who to trust, she’s inclined to accept Magnus’s protective presence, but … she’d been wrong before.

Making a mistake under these conditions would be fatal—for both of them …

Magnus was sent to a remote training base to investigate some mysterious happenings. He didn’t expect to end up protecting and falling for the temporary resident doctor Syndney. I wouldn’t want to be where they especially after so many disappeared or died. Syndey is also dealing with thefts and attacks at the clinic. There were plenty of twists and turns and the much of it is still an unsolved to be continued mystery.

This is book 1 in a new series by Dale Mayer and tells the story of Magnus and Sydney. There have been accidents, deaths and disappearances at the Arctic training center and Magnus and others have been sent to determine the reasons for these incidences. Sydney, the only doctor on the premises, is having her own problems with thefts of powerful medications and assaults. Together they will work to solve the mystery. Book 1 lays the foundation for the series. As such, many characters are introduced and details of everyday life at the training center are explained. The story flows well and the reader gets a sense of the fear permeating throughout the center as the problems multiply. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Note: not all things are resolved in book 1. There is an underlying issue that carries into the next book. 4 stars

A military mission in a remote frozen landscape goes terribly wrong. People are going missing and Magnus is sent in to figure out what’s going on. Magnus Moureaux entered the large snow-covered building, shaking the snow off his hood and his shoulders. As always this author writes a suspenseful edge of you seat mystery. A little bit of romance at the ending rounds out this crazy snow covered adventure. She nodded, then smiled, flipped back the blankets. “So, you might as well get in and cudd
