Magnus was sent to a remote training base to investigate some mysterious happenings. He didn’t expect to end up protecting and falling for the temporary resident doctor Syndney. I wouldn’t want to be where they especially after so many disappeared or died. Syndey is also dealing with thefts and attacks at the clinic. There were plenty of twists and turns and the much of it is still an unsolved to be continued mystery.

This is book 1 in a new series by Dale Mayer and tells the story of Magnus and Sydney. There have been accidents, deaths and disappearances at the Arctic training center and Magnus and others have been sent to determine the reasons for these incidences. Sydney, the only doctor on the premises, is having her own problems with thefts of powerful medications and assaults. Together they will work to solve the mystery. Book 1 lays the foundation for the series. As such, many characters are introduced and details of everyday life at the training center are explained. The story flows well and the reader gets a sense of the fear permeating throughout the center as the problems multiply. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Note: not all things are resolved in book 1. There is an underlying issue that carries into the next book. 4 stars
