About this eBook

A story about a poor boy swept away by a kind library mage and the (literal) magic of reading, Magus of the Library is a beautifully-drawn, spirited fantasy adventure, like a Fullmetal Alchemist for all ages!

The Magic of the Written Word

In the small village of Amun lives a poor boy named Theo. Theo adores books, but because of his pointed ears and impoverished life, he isn’t allowed to use the village library. As he endures the prejudice and hatred of the village, he dreams of going where such things don’t exist: Aftzaak, City of Books. But one day, Theo chances to meet a Kafna–a librarian who works for the great library of Aftzaak–and his life changes forever…

You know that feeling when you're browsing through a bookshop and you chance upon this great story that looks like no one knows about? That's how I felt about this. Not only is the art brilliantly illustrated, it's a deep read that's similar to Blissful Land and Otoyomegatari where the history and lore are all intricately laid out around the main character, Theo, who struggles to find his place in the world where people like him are often ostracized. He finds solace in the books he reads, and through it finds meaning in the life he lives. I truly love this series, and I hope that people will find that despite its rather slow pace for volume 1 it's a wonderful and deeply rewarding read.
