It doesn't happen to me often, but I couldn't put this book down and didn't want it to end! Cain Bennett was called in to find the mole in Omega who had been helping psychopath Damien Freihof kill agents and their loved ones. When Cain realized that the mole had major hacking skills, he knew he needed help. But the person who could help him uncover the traitor probably wouldn't want to. He asked her anyway, hoping she'd agree to use her incredible computer skills to help Omega again. Hayley and Cain had been high school sweethearts. Four years ago, even though they hadn't seen each other in years, he had asked her to help with a case concerning a group of hackers, not knowing she was involved. By the time he found out, they had rekindled their relationship. He didn't want to, but he arrested her. Once she got out of prison, Hayley didn't want to see Cain ever again so when he showed up asking for her help again, she wasn't happy. But she needed the money so she agreed to his offer. Poor Hayley. She got arrested for hacking but had found something in the code that put her in danger. She was having a hard time at work, and there's never enough money. Cain was a good guy but never does anything if it's against "the book". So letting Hayley work with computers was hard for him. Should he trust her or not? He was still crazy about her. That made it harder to decide. As they worked together, they realized they were still strongly attracted to each other. With their trust issues and Hayley's secrets, can they make it work? I loved this suspense. It kept me guessing right to the end. Which was a surprise in itself (the ending). I always enjoy Janie Crouch's books and this one was no exception.
