Throughout the day, participants drink 6-12 glasses of the lemonade mixture whenever hunger strikes. The diet typically lasts for 10 days, although some variations range from 3 to 14 days. Proponents of the Lemon Detox Diet believe it helps remove toxins from the body, results in significant weight loss due to calorie restriction, and improves digestion by giving the digestive system a break.

 

However, the diet faces criticism for lacking essential nutrients such as protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals, which can lead to nutritional deficiencies. Prolonged fasting can cause muscle loss due to insufficient protein intake and can slow down metabolism, making weight regain likely after the diet ends. Additionally, the saltwater flush and laxative tea can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.
