Dark themes, beautiful artwork, steampunk. Through the chapters, you learn of Maika's struggles with revenge, learning who to trust, and survival in a cruel world. The story also paints (literally and figuratively) a complex picture of survival, common interactions and politics between supernatural beings, humans, and individuals who seem to fall into both of these categories. A bit violent at times, but appropriate to the story.

I don't often write reviews but this left a strong impression on me in a lot of ways. I had heard good things and am sad I had to get the digital edition, but I'll definitely be hunting down the first compiled trade with a MONSTRESS appetite :)

Love the story so far! Kept thinking about it for days... usually only happens to me after watching really good movies or reading great books... I guess I'm a new fan to comics now. Good job! Please keep it that way!
