At the age of 9, her father passed away in a car accident. Nine months after the death, her mother decided to move the family to the Dominican Republic to live with grandparents because the danger the city posed for raising a family.
It was there that she developed a love for supernatural thrillers and began studying ballet at the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy.
Though she was a talented dancer, her desire to incorporate spoken word in her performances led her to move back to New York, where she began to pursue a career as an actress at age 17.
