We first encounter doughty warrior Beobrand in The Serpent Sword as he fights for King Edwin in Northumbria, while seeking vengeance for his brother's death. As a fan of Bernard Cornwell novels set in the same period, I highly recommend Harffy as a new and talented author of this genre.

Matthew Harffy grew up in Northumberland where the rugged terrain, ruined castles and rocky coastline had a huge impact on him. He now lives in Wiltshire, England, with his wife and their two daughters.
