The study of economic arrangements that are not based on the microeconomics of buying and selling as well as supply and demand, nor on the macroeconomic reasoning of aggregate totals of demand, but rather on the significance of the structures under which these forces play out, and how to measure the effects of these structures, is referred to as mezzoeconomics or mesoeconomics. This is a neologism that is used to describe the study of economic arrangements. Back in the 19th century, the field of study known as mesoeconomics first started to take shape.
