Although most active as a writer-producer for television drama, Michael Cassutt is also the author of many published short stories in ISAAC ASIMOV’S SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINE, Terry Carr’s UNIVERSE, Charles L. Grant’s SHADOWS, George R. R. Martin’s WILD CARDS, and other publications. He has published several novels, from THE STAR COUNTRY in 1986 to the HEAVEN’S SHADOW trilogy, written with David S. Goyer, in 2011-2013.
His television work, largely SF and fantasy, includes scripts for series such as THE TWILIGHT ZONE, MAX HEADROOM, EERIE, INDIANA, THE DEAD ZONE and SyFy Channel’s Z-NATION (five season). He has also written his share of unproduced adaptations of novels and stories by Robert A. Heinlein, Clifford Simak, John Varley, Howard Waldrop and others.
Cassutt is also a space historian and journalist, contributing to SMITHSONIAN/AIR & SPACE magazine and authoring THE ASTRONAUT MAKER: HOW ONE MYSTERIOUS ENGINEER RAN HUMAN SPACEFLIGHT FOR A GENEERATION, the biography of NASA’s enigmatic George W. S. Abbey.
