Thank you NetGalley, Goodreads and Molly Greeley for the opportunity to read the ARC of The Heiress a Pride and Prejudice novel! I was very excited to read this book and find out more about Anne, you do not have to read Pride and Prejudice to enjoy this novel. This book can certainly be enjoyed as a standalone novel. Anne is brought up with a laudanum addiction from being a baby, she is very lethargic and is weak because of it, she supposed to grow up to be married to Mr. Darcy but of course that doesn't happen. As she grows, she has a governess Miss Hall that believes Anne can more if she is willing to stop the laudanum, but Anne doesn't listen and so Miss Hall ultimately leaves. After the death of her father, Anne is put on so much laudanum that she has hallucinations, as more years go by she finds a letter unread from Miss Hall and flees to London to stay with her cousin John to quit and recover from laudanum.
