About this ebook

Socrates may be dead, but the issues that led him to drink that iconic glass of hemlock are not. Was Socrates guilty as charged? Here, in this short-form book, is the surprising - and complicated - answer.

About the author

Sir Moses Finley was a noted classics scholar at Cambridge University in England and author of numerous books, including The World of Odysseus. One admiring reviewer of a collection of Finley essays on Greece and Rome wrote they reflected “an elegant kind of scholarly journalism.” An American by birth, Finley left the United States after a 1952 Senate subcommittee accused him of being a Communist. He became a British citizen in 1962 and was knighted in 1979.
