An Outback Delight -- A few years ago when I started reviewing more books, this author was the first Australian one I read. It was an early book in this series, and I immediately fell in love with the way she portrayed the Australian outback and the hardy people who live there. I can't say for certain, but this one may be my favorite of the series. The heroine is a young, smart, tough cattlewoman who is abominably underappreciated by her family, particularly her hard-driving station-owner father. The author shows us this vividly, and if you've ever felt underappreciated by your family or on the job, you will instantly identify with the heroine and her heartbreak. The hero is simply awesome, coming to her defense on the first day they meet and making her what sounds like a delicious burrito! As with all the books in the series, the setting feels like another character. I feel like I'm traveling to the outback myself when I read books by this author; I can see and feel the dust and the hardscrabble land. One thing I love about this series’ books is the little elements the author carries through all of them. Seeing Cecil the water buffalo show up in the first chapter was an utter delight and brought a smile to my face! I highly recommend any books by this author if you want to armchair travel to the Australian outback; you don't need to read the books in any particular order as they do stand alone. If you take a chance on this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. -- I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This is book five in The Elsie Creek Series and it is Mandy and Rigsy's story and it is a must read. Mandy is the daughter of a wealthy cattle station owner and she is shy, quiet and works hard on the family station but when her father gives the job that she wanted and thought that she would get to someone else she is so angry that she stands up to her father letting him know how she feels. Rigsy is in town to help his best friend Flo get a date but he suddenly finds himself standing up for Mandy and they end up going into a game relationship. The more time that Mandy and Rigsy spend together the stronger there friendship grows and even though they have there own goals they help each other try to achieve them but feelings start to develop between them but how will it all turn out only time will tell if they get to be together and have a chance of a happy ending. I absolutely loved this book and it was such a beautiful love story that I couldn't put down as the characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept you turning the pages right till the end and this couple were totally meant for each other. I definitely recommend you read this book and you will definitely not be disappointed. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Rigsy has been the helpful friend in the other books, so I was happy when he got his own story. I didn’t realize all the skills he has. He’s so under appreciated because of his family, the many jobs he’s had, that many consider him a useless drifter. Mandy was being taken for granted by her father. She was running his station and making smart choices to grow the best herd of cattle and stock horses. But instead of praising her he kept shutting her down and pampering her spoiled sister who spends more time on holiday and taking credit for others work. When he shoots down her dream of officially being in charge she decides to get him back by dating Rigsy and taking a long deserved holiday. I loved Flo with her love of old clothes and ducks. Rigsy was so sweet to help her out. It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous book who rally around to help each other out.
