About this eBook

I never thought of myself as dad material.

Until my one-night stand showed up in my small Alaskan town five months pregnant.

But I don’t shy away from responsibility. First, because I’m a Greene and not to boast but we’re kind of a big deal in Sunrise Bay. Second, I’m the Sheriff.

I couldn’t have predicted how protective I’d become for the safety of her and my unborn baby to the point of asking her to move in with me and be my roommate.

Just when I think I have the situation under control, another surprise knocks me over, but it only spurs me to double down.

I’ll be the first to admit, I didn’t think it through. Somewhere between the dinners, the TV show binging, the doctor appointments, and me walking in on her naked, lines blurred.

In what feels like warp speed, my bachelor for life status is in jeopardy and I’m fighting for the most important thing of all—my family.

My Unexpected Surprise is the fifth book in Greene Family Series by Piper Rayne. It always give me such joy returning to Sunrise Bay, Alaska and the Greene family. The Greene family and even a few Baileys pop up in Fisher and Allie’s story and I loved every moment. Fisher and Allie have a lot to navigate with their unexpected surprise and I enjoyed the progression of their relationship as they learn and grow through the many stages as they go from soon to be co-parents, to friends, to lovers. Fisher gets the shock of his life when he runs into Allie and discovers she is pregnant with his baby. It takes him a moment to get his head around how drastically his life is going to change but he is a Greene so of course he does the right thing and steps up to his responsibilities. I loved Allie’s fiery personality, she held her own with Fisher and his outrageous demands initially. She didn’t cower once despite his many attempts to treat her like fragile glass through her pregnancy. As we have come to expect with this series, dear Dori and Ethel are back with their meddling and shenanigans, and had me in fits of giggles at their scheming ways. Fisher’s growth in what I loved most about this book. He was always so adamant that he would never allow himself to have happiness, love, marriage and kids but Allie changes everything for him. His mothers death had a huge impact on him and he was so reluctant to open his heart up that way and even the few times he gets spooked he is all in with Allie and he has to learn to make himself vulnerable to allow that love in completely and when he does it is such beauty. Piper Rayne’s writing is heartfelt and funny and I cannot get enough of the Greene family. I cannot wait for the next one!

I'm such a sucker for small-town romances and no one does them better than Piper Rayne! We're once again back in Alaska with the Greene family and this one pulled on the heart strings for sure! Fisher Greene is the sheriff in town and it's well known he has never wanted a family of his own and that is something he's stood by for a very long time. After losing his Mom at the age of 10, when she drowned on the lake near their house, he just didn't want to lose someone that he loved ever again. He felt by not choosing to love/marry, it would protect him. Allie has always been one that wanted the fairytale romance and wedding, complete with the white knight who would sweep her off her feet. She learned pretty quickly that things don't always work out like you think they will and she now finds herself working at the hospital, along with being five-months pregnant. When Fisher learns that the one night he and Allie spent together resulted in a pregnancy, he steps up to do the right thing. What he's not expecting is how much he wants to be a father and how as he and Allie spend more time together, he wants to be with her too because he genuinely has feelings for her. Allie on the other hand knows all too well how Fisher can be, so she doesn't want to be hurt by him. She's happy for him to co-parent, but can she take a chance that he really does want her because he's falling for her and wants them to be a family? This book unfolded for me in such a great way. There were some surprises thrown in that I wasn't expecting, Dori, Ethel and Midge were right there to keep things interesting and the growth of the main characters was fantastic. I can't even imagine how losing a parent at such a young age would shape the rest of your life, so Fisher going through all he did, made so much sense to me. These books are always so enjoyable and if you haven't started this series, I suggest you pick them up!

I love my visits to Sunrise Bay, Alaska and no visit would be complete without a catch up with the Greene family and this times it’s Fisher and Allie’s entertaining and at times emotional journey. Fisher never planned to be a father and finding out a one night stand had left him soon to be a dad came as a complete shock for the confirmed bachelor. But like you would expect from a Greene man, he steps up to do the right thing by Allie and his unborn child. I’m going to stick my neck out and say this is my favourite couple in the series and that is says a lot because I adore this family, their friends and their partners. I loved watching Fisher grow as he found himself falling in love with Allie, I fell hard and fast as I watched him become a protector of her and his baby. This is a book with all the feels and it certainly ticked all my boxes, I smiled, I swooned, I sighed and I shed a few tears as I joined them on their journey. As always family members need to have a say but that only added another depth to this wonderful read. Perfect addition to one of my favourite series.
