I had the opportunity to review an early copy of ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR. I have read past Psy/Changeling books and I’ve enjoyed them, but they’ve never fully enthralled me like the author’s Guild Hunter series has. I haven’t read the last several books in the series, but the story does have many of my favorite characters, including Lucas, Sascha, Naya and the rest of the DarkRiver Leopards, the Arrows, Hawke and the SnowDancer Wolves, several other changeling packs, and a bunch more characters I’ve just recently met! The book doesn’t center around one hero/heroine but has many interconnecting storylines. It can be difficult to incorporate so many characters into one book but I think Ms. Singh handled it beautifully! I was lost in some areas and that’s because, as mentioned above, I haven’t read all the previous books (which I definitely recommend doing), but I was able to find my footing without too much confusion. Whether or not I was previously introduced to a character, never affected the powerful words and entertaining scenes in the book. What I loved most about the book was the romance! So much love and it was entertaining to experience so many happily ever afters in one book! There’s one storyline that pulled at my heartstrings and that was of the human priest Xavier Perez. His struggles with his faith and his feelings for his one true love just...wow. So powerful. If you love exciting, entertaining, spectacular world building with complex plots, relatable characters and witty dialogue, you’ll find it all in a Nalini Singh novel. Breathtaking action and romance set against a backdrop of changing times and a civilization bound together by love. Amazing characters and a story that lends itself to many great books to come. A masterpiece of a series.
