Lauren first meets Max in the hospital cafeteria when she whispers in his ear to play along. The hospital administrator is coming on to her and she wants to put him in his place. She’s more than just a pretty face. I’m not going to leave any spoilers because I think everyone should read at least one book by this author, who is new to me.
