About this ebook

A Tenth Anniversary Edition of Naomi Klein's No Logo with a New Introduction by the Author

NO LOGO was an international bestseller and "a movement bible" (The New York Times). Naomi Klein's second book, The Shock Doctrine, was hailed as a "master narrative of our time," and has over a million copies in print worldwide.

In the last decade, No Logo has become an international phenomenon and a cultural manifesto for the critics of unfettered capitalism worldwide. As America faces a second economic depression, Klein's analysis of our corporate and branded world is as timely and powerful as ever.

Equal parts cultural analysis, political manifesto, mall-rat memoir, and journalistic exposé, No Logo is the first book to put the new resistance into pop-historical and clear economic perspective. Naomi Klein tells a story of rebellion and self-determination in the face of our new branded world.

Book is divided into 4 sections: No Space (corporations have placed branded on public spaces), No Choice (corporations have pushed out the independents), No Jobs (jobs have been moved abroad), No Logo (its time to fight back). I can't say that I agree with Naomi Kleiin's perspective on the destructiveness of corporations, but the analysis of the marketing campaigns and job market is certainly worth reading, if for no other reason than to memorialize the corporate environment in the late 90's. The no jobs section beats a very dead horse and the no logo section over-emphasized small movements, but other than that, book read well.

You talk about the depressions capitalism started but lets talk about the ones communism/socialism started. Lets start in 1928 and in russia with a fellow the left loves, Stalin. The birther of communism and his eagerful 5 year plans. Only 20 million people dead from famine and killings by 1930.

The book gives the reader deep insights into how the world of brands infiltrates our live so deeply. It also triggers reflections as to what extent one defines one's identity through one's own values or through brand placed values. For me, as a father of small children, it triggered some thinking around how to bring up my kids so that they don't become brand loyal hyper-consumers.
