I started off really liking this series. But the further it went the more I realized I didn't actually like either the protagonist or the writing. The protagonist Raven is supposed to be this wicked killer, but though she talks tough she's neither very smart nor tough? She just comes off as juvenile and a paper bully (not actually tough but talks a good game). As far as the writing, the yoyo relationship between her and C just gets monotonous after a while. I wanted to see the character grow and the relationship to develop, but all that happens is she gets in bigger and more stupid messes due to her own ineptitude. The writing is also obvious... I knew what was going to happen with L as soon as R met her. I really wish R was actually tough and could own up to her own emotions (one way or the other!). I wish the other characters were more 3-dimensional. If those things took place this could have been an interesting series? Best of luck in the future!

Wow, Just Wow. Absolutely Stunning!!😍🔥💵🌹 I think this has to be the most heartfelt of the Crossbreed Series so far, so you've been warned from the start!!😍😉 At the end of 'Blackout #5' Raven had discovered that Christian had kept the fact that her Dad, Crush, was a 'trusted human' in the Breed World, from her. She's devastated by what she sees as his betrayal & leaves the mansion to seek the comfort of her Daddy & home!!😥 Christian is side swiped by a ghost from his past! He doesn't seem particularly happy to see her but it's clear their past may not be over in her eyes & maybe not his either!!💔😕 Victor has decided Keystone all deserve a break & informs them he won't be taking on any cases for a couple of weeks. The teams deserve the time off, Raven - he informs them all - has taken some time to reconnect with her Dad & he thinks Hunter would benefit from the settling in period!!😍💙 Raven & her Dad are so alike it's funny 😄 Both are stubborn as mules but loyal to their bones and that becomes more apparent the longer she stays with him & their truths are told in full!!🙏 Bond's of true friendship & loyalty have been forged over the decades but Crush is a proud man, he's hiding something from nearly everyone that could end him!!😱 Once again the Author has pulled it out of the bag. There's no case to solve in this book but I didn't miss that aspect after the nail biter of 'Blackout', I think this shift in gears, although no less engrossing, was almost a relief!!👍 This one is an emotional conundrum from page one. Figuring out people's motives, sincerity, loyalties & truths was just as difficult as figuring out a Keystone case & nearly as deadly!!😳💀🙈, The heartfelt moments in this page turner are deep. I couldn't read it without losing a few tears 😢 They aren't out & out mushy but they touched a part of me that I think we all hold dear!!💜 Keystone, however, is forever changed by the end of 'Nevermore'. It's to be seen if it's for the best of not 😱 I believe Raven has grown up as an individual but also an immortal too, during this book. Keystone, and it's members, have been slowly making a difference to her but I felt like the events throughout this particular book helped remove certain blinkers she continued to wear!!😎 Roll on Book #7, I can't get enough of this Keystone Family 🙏😍🌹 Unmissable reading 📚 👑🍬 Debbie, 1970, UK

AudioBook Review: Stars: Overall 5 Narration 5 Story 5 Taking a bit of a break from the non-stop action and information uncovering, this story focuses more on Raven and Christian, and how they came to be the people they are. Raven is visiting with her father and taking a break from Christian – they aren’t speaking and she needs a break to regroup and relax. But, this is the Crossbreed world, and ‘relax’ isn’t a word that fits well in this world. Again, Dark has managed to build the expansion of the world to fit with the one so well-detailed to this point, and Raven’s Da is pretty much what you’d expect – a bit snarky, a touch tender and of course he’s being threatened by something ‘more’ than what is apparent. The moments between Raven and her father are clever and feel plausible, and her father’s reaction to Christian with the barbs they exchange and the conflict that really isn’t – as they both want only the best for Raven. Poor Christian though, as we see his life and what brought him to this point, and both he and Raven have endured so much to get to where they are and aren’t, it almost felt as if we all needed this break to better understand them both, and thus their connection. And it’s most certainly there – full of light and funny moments, some awful events and threats from the outsiders who felt as if they could influence, for the worse, the connection he and Raven share. When you add in lions, a bitchy vamp and some funny asides from other members of the team, Raven’s Da and even from Raven and Christian themselves, this is a story that provides a nice interlude from the non-stop questions and action and allows everyone a moment to breathe. Nicole Poole, again, performs the story and becomes a highlight with her deft voicing for both Raven and Christian. It’s easy to pick them out from scenes as her voicing has remained consistent, and her performance never falters – introducing new and familiar characters, giving them life and form, and adding moments to ‘breathe’ where laughter or tension is the only response. She’s brought these characters and this story into an ‘experience’ as nothing of the author’s intention is lost in this performance and keeping listeners hanging on her every word. I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Tantor Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
