Groupe parmi les plus influents du genre, Mayhem a redéfini le “Death Metal” de la fin des années 80 et du début des années 90. J’ai correspondu avec Euronymous en 1991-92, peu avant sa mort, ainsi qu’avec Varg Vikernes. Je dois avouer que Varg était un excellent bassiste sur De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, c’est dommage que leur amitié se soit soldée par un meurtre. Mayhem est devenu une légende et Euronymous était un musicien de génie en ce qui concerne le Black Metal. Même après sa mort, le groupe s’en est bien tiré et je suis sûr qu’il aurait été fier d’eux. » Michael Ford
