No One Saw

Where is Emma Whitman? Her grandmother dropped her off at day care early one morning. When the parents went to pick her up that afternoon, she was told Emma hadn't been there that day. The child's teacher said she never saw her ... or the grandmother. There are no witnesses. No trace of where she might have gone. When Detectives A.L. McKittridge and his partner Rena Morgan are called in to investigate, the one thing they learn is that somebody is lying. But who and why? They also learn that the family of Emma has secrets .. what are they hiding? Suspenseful from start to finish, the detectives use every resource at their hands to find the missing child. There are plenty of suspects to look at and follow. It's hard to point a finger at any one person until the surprising unexpected conclusion. Although second in the series, it reads easily as a stand alone. But I do recommend reading them is order. I read the first book in the series where we were introduced to McKittridge and was excited to see what this author would come up with next. While it does drag a little in the middle it's still a great read with plenty of dicey as well as frustrating moments as the detectives go through the steps of figuring out where, when and how this all could have happened. Many times you find yourself getting excited thinking everything is solved only to be found wrong. It's a scary thing when a child turns up missing. It brings to mind too many things for both detectives which they have to get through in order to solve their case. It's a well written story with plenty of intrigue and a twisted ending which you don't totally expect.
