About this ebook

She has no second chance with him.

Anne lost Robert five years ago when she said no to his proposal, and there's no going back now. Even though rejecting him was the hardest thing she's ever done. Even though she's never gotten over him. Even though he's moving right upstairs.

He's back for at least a month, recovering from an injury before he returns to the Navy. And he hasn't forgotten or forgiven the way she chose her career over him. But there's no sense in trying to work through their raw feelings--in or out of the bedroom--because if they get close to each other again, the same painful parting might happen a second time.

But getting close to Robert is exactly what Anne can't stop doing.

Pemberley House is a series of modern reimaginings of Jane Austen novels, and the books are set in a historic mansion in Virginia that has been converted into condos. Loved None But You is loosely inspired by Persuasion.

I really enjoyed this addition to the Pemberley House series. This is the type of book that you can just sit back with and relax. There is a bit of angst that drives the plotline and keeps the reader on edge, but these characters have so much chemistry that you just know they belong together. Anne and Robert have a brokenhearted past and as they reconnect they both fear re-experiencing that pain again. There is a bit of push and pull here as they relent to the desire between them but then face the consequences of what those actions might present. ”He couldn’t do it again. He couldn’t. Not unless he knew for sure it was safe – that his heart wouldn’t be broken again. He wasn’t going to invest in this any further until he knew it would last forever this time. He wasn’t sure he could survive losing Anne a second time.” This is an amazing second chance romance with the reason for their breakup being believable and acceptable – the type of thing that could happen between real people. They both move on but neither forget and once they see each other again they each begin to fall even as they are casually telling themselves that they can be in close proximity to each other without it affecting them. It was actually very humorous reading their internal dialogue regarding it. As all of Ms. Adams’ books, this has a wonderful pace to it that keeps the story moving smoothly and before you know it you’ve reached the end. It’s a wonderful read for a lazy afternoon but be prepared for the heat factor here because this one absolutely sizzles.
