About this eBook

Amy Hamilton never had much of a home life growing up. Her sister Phoenix and her mother demanded all the attention, so much so that she and her father didn’t have a relationship at all. Now that her father was filing for a divorce, he felt guilty for not being a part of her life and wanted to make up for it, but Amy wasn’t sure she was ready for that.

North Wilkerson had a similar upbringing. Although his mother was dead now, before her death, she was an awful person and an even worse mother. After having sworn off family ties to his parents, he was just now allowing his father back into his life.

Amy and Booker Wilkerson were close friends in college. Amy was only supposed to be in town for a few days, and when Booker called inviting her to dinner, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to catch up on old times. When Booker’s cousin North and his uncle joined them for dinner, they all had a blast.

But when North just showed up at her father’s house and took over, Amy wasn’t sure what to think of him. What did he think he was doing? She barely knew him. Amy needed to nip this in the bud before it went much further. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She didn’t need a man now, or would she ever need a man, any man….

This is the second book in the "Wilkerson Dynasty" and can be read as a standalone but I'm telling you right now, you REALLY don't want to do that. All the beginning juicy bits of excitement in this underlying plot explodes in the first book and you definitely don't want to miss that. It also brings us directly into this one. Of course, if you read Marsden then you know North and he is the closest of the six cousins. There's a theme that I've recognized in these first two books which is rather exciting. These six men and their fathers have been so verbally and physically abused it's wonderful to watch each of them come into their own and their personalities strengthen as more information comes to light and they become more confident. Amy is also a very strong young woman. She's had to be as her mother and sister could very well have taken lessons from the Wilkerson wives. The chemistry is instantaneous, the romance builds quickly, and the reader is pulled in with each new scenario that takes place. It's wonderful!

Loved this story! Intricate and delightful, with snappy banter, and of course, lightening fast love. North and Amy both come from dysfunctional families, with abusive mothers. Despite this, both are jumping feet first into a relationship, eyes wide. Each of their fathers are finally making a effort to know their children, which leads to some very emotional moments. But there is also plenty of humor to be found, and an abundance of support from extended family and friends. This is a complex story, with plenty of family drama, but also lots of love. Not a quick book, but well worth your time! Happy Reading! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
