Nowick has studied with a number of African drumming masters including Famoudou Konate, Mamady Keita, and Babatunde Olatunji; toured with Western African and Brazilian drum and dance ensembles; organized all-night jams and trance dances; played music for yoga and breathwork classes; recorded with electric jam bands; and played tabla for Indian kirtan.
