Once a Wife is a beautifully written book, digging deep down into human reactions and emotions, from an overprotective mother-in-law to the heart of a mother who could not turn her back on her child when he needed her most. I felt angry at the injustice of Sarah being forced to face impossible odds, and wept with her when she met her son and husband again. I felt her fear in facing her mother-in-law and the feelings of low self-worth as she worked through her deception in not telling Reece about their daughter. This story is one of triumph over tragedy and second chances, covering issues such as teenage pregnancy, as well as social and racial prejudice. It also brought out how much influence a mother can have on a family, either for good or bad. Sometimes as mothers, we have to let our dreams for our children go and allow them to live their own lives without interference. I feel that I have been enriched having read this book and that this story will stay with me for some time. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
