Gelukkig ontmoet ze Harmen, een boerenzoon die alle sluippaadjes rond de stad precies kent. Samen gaan ze op zoek naar Bregjes vader, terwijl de kogels hen om de oren vliegen. Bregje heeft echt bestaan. Ze was een kleine held in de Tachtigjarige Oorlog. Veel dingen die je in dit verhaal leest, kun je nog steeds zien in Groenlo. Er is zelfs een speciale fietsroute waarmee je langs alle plekken komt waar Bregje en Harmen zijn geweest.
