Nat and Hudson’s story in Operation Valentine by Sarah Fischer and Kelsey McKnight, book one in their Hazel Oaks Resort series, was a wonderful, sweet, enjoyable tale of two people who possibly have different life goals. Nat Keller loved her job at Hazel Oaks Resort in upstate New York; a place she worked at her entire adult life. As the resort’s Head Concierge she was able to use the organizational skills she learned as a child who moved constantly, being part of a military family. When she is asked to help a married couple rekindle their romance, she’s thrilled to prove herself; at least until she learns she will be working with a partner. Hudson Dougal, lead adventure coordinator for the resort, never stayed in one place for very long. After working at the resort for a year he was contemplating where he could go next when he’s asked to worked with Nat on a special project. Nat was the only woman who appeared to be immune to his charm, flirting, and jokes. Always up for a challenge, he readily agrees; coming up with some really good ideas and suggestions. Working together Hudson sees beneath the façade that Nat puts on, covering up the person underneath the organized, unbending, stick-in-the mud, she showed her work colleagues and the world. Nat begins to understand Hudson better, seeing that he needed a place where he truly fit in along with the need to be outdoors and physical. Maybe, Hudson didn’t need to move so much as he needed a place or someone he could come home to. The more time they spend together they find themselves not only helping a stale and stalled marriage but they too shared a magnetic attraction, and chemistry. Nat and Hudson deserved to find an everlasting love that could lead to a future together. Ms. Fischer and Ms. McKnight wrote a wonderful filled with sizzling chemistry, magnetism, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving Nat and Hudson a chance to overcome past impressions, realize that they are perfect for each, and deserve to be together. I highly recommend Operation Valentine to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
