About this ebook

This 400th anniversary edition of the King James Version of the Bible is a reprint of the 1611 text, in an easy-to-read roman font instead of the black-letter type of the original. The original capital letters, many of which are pictorial, have been restored to each chapter in order to replicate the visual appeal of the early editions. The 1611 text is followed page-for-page and line-for-line, and all misprints are reproduced rather than corrected. The large body of preliminary matter, which includes genealogies, maps, and lists of readings, is also included. The text of the 1611 edition differs from modern editions of the King James Version in thousands of details, and this edition is the most authentic version of the original text that has ever been published. The volume concludes with an essay by Gordon Campbell on the first edition of the King James Bible.

This oxford facsimile is really faithful to the original material. The writing is set in a Roman font (which was originally medieval black print) but the text is strictly the same as that of the 1611 bible. The scanning is clear and double tapping on either side of the page will ensure close readability and the text still fits the screen since as you know kjb texts are always split into two columns. It makes the overall readability close to perfection. You can't go wrong with this book. It is also a gold mine of information about 17th century (early) modern English and the writing is not too obscure to make it unreadable to the modern English speaker. I even daresay it's much easier to read than Shakespeare. Only drawback is the price is a little excessive and you can't download any epub or pdf file from it. But a good investment for certain.

For the ones that use the niv bible you need to look up" why anyone would use the niv" it takes out veruses and changes Gods word it take out all words that offend anyone. It even take out Jesus is Gods Son or equal to God they also take out virgin mary and say young girl. Changes Gods words is wrong As for this Bible it is a good bible.
