 Padre Pio died September 23, 1968, his funeral attended by over 100,000 people. During the fifty-eight years he was a priest, his monastery at San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy, became a mecca for pilgrims from all over the world. Born Francesco Forgione on May 25, 1887 at Pietrelcina in southeastern Italy, Padre Pio joined the Capuchin Order in 1903 and was ordained in 1910. On September 20, 1918 he received the sacred wounds of Christ, or the stigmata, which he bore the rest of his life.

It's good book but some People can not understand really whatappen that time.

About the author

 Father Charles Mortimer Carty worked with the radio and the press for twenty-four years in the twentieth century. He and Father Leslie Rumble of Australia founded the St. Paul, Minnesota-based Radio Replies Press, through which they distributed thousands of Catholic books and pamphlets. Father Charles wrote the bulk of Padre Pio: The Stigmatist while living at San Giovanni Rotondo, visiting the saint. He afterwards toured the United States and gave sermons on St. Pio. He died during one of these tours on May 22, 1964, in Pennsylvania.
