I have a love-hate relationship with this series (oh the irony). Never before have I seen or read about such dishonest, untrustworthy, shallow, distrusting, ridiculous, heartbreaking, deeply foolish, mildly-yet-phenomenally stupid couple of supposedly-humans with a twisted sense of love in my entire life. In short, astoundingly stupid characters with a shallow sort of tenderness that you never quite believe or feel, and yet..... The ending forces you to need, and want, to read the next book. It sparks a tiny flicker of hope in your soul (previously shriveled and blackened from these books).
