Mathew M.A. Manjakunnel, born in 1964 at Arakulam, Idukki Dt. Kerala, India. He joined the CMI Congregation in 1980 and thereafter his ecclesiastical studies in Philosophy & Theology at Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram Bangalore was ordained as priest in 1995. He holds bachelor’s degree in Economics and Education from S.H. College Thevara and St. Joseph College Mannanam of M.G. University Kottayam. He took his Master’s Degree in Economics from M.S. University, Baroda and M.Phil. in Development Economics from Maduarai Kamaraj University. He was conferred D.Litt. degree from International Tamil University, Mary Land U.S.A for his research on Vattavada Panchayath. He was also conferred Honorary Doctorate from University of South America, Panama for his contribution to education and motivating social ethics to students.
Mathew started his educational career in 1998 at Viswadeepthi Public school Adimaly, as a teacher followed by as a High school assistant at Kuriakose Elias High School Vattavada. He is the Founder Principal of Christ International School, Bangalore and later worked as Principal as well as Manager of Carmelagiri Public School, Munnar. He served as Superior of St. Joseph’s Carmel House Vattavada, Sanjo CMI Bhavan Bangalore, Vimalalayam House Korendakad and Carmel Provincial House, Muvattupuzha. As the Provincial Councillor of Carmel Province, Muvattupuzha he started a movement namely, ‘Go green : Go with Nature’ for environment causes. As Global Green Ambassodor of GLF convened ‘National Go green Summit’ of CMI Congregation in 2020. At present he is the Director of Carmel Ayurveda Village & Research Centre and Carmel Ayurvedic Hospital, Bhoothathankettu.
