About this ebook

Positive discipline is built around empathizing with your child, giving them space to feel their feelings, and helping them find solutions to their problems. By rejecting traditional discipline models of reward and punishment, you can create mutual respect between you and your child, improving their confidence and self-esteem for life.

Some of the questions that will be answered in this book include:

•                  How does brain development relate to toddler discipline?

•                  What kinds of limits does a toddler need or not need?

•                  How can you develop healthy communication patterns with your little one?

•                  What are the best ways to help toddlers learn to deal with conflicts?

•                  What discipline strategies are most effective in helping toddlers go through this crucial stage of development?

•                  How can you as a supermom stay calm when facing toddler frustration?

Although raising kids can be a challenge, our new roles as parents will be one of the most rewarding ones we will ever have. Undoubtedly, toddlers can be a handful and with so many parenting challenges like temper tantrums, sibling rivalry, lying, bedtime troubles and so on, it can be easy for us to get overwhelmed. However, contrary to popular opinion, the key to administering loving and gentle discipline is mutual respect and not the use of punishments.

This is less a book about troubleshooting unwanted behavior as it is a book about helping you communicate with your kiddo in a respectful way. The rationale is that if you view and speak to your child with respect, they will become fully functional children. It works. I don't know what happens when a kid turns three, but the insanity drove me to buy this book. I read it in two sittings, and followed the model conversations to the letter. It worked really well. There are no shortcuts or quick fixes, but after a week of respectful parenting, we had a different toddler on our hands.

This book is laser-targeted at my needs and is the kind of book I have been waiting for! There are dozens of gentle discipline books out there, but often they are lengthy and more theoretical than practical. Here, Aubrey Hargis manages to share an approach that is respectful of the child AND the parent in a way that is straightforward and practical. We started applying suggestions Aubrey offered immediately and to great effect. The format of the book makes it easy to review the section most pertinent to the reader. I love the boxed insights and hands on messages from parents. I received a review copy of this book but loved it so much I purchased my own copy, as well.

This book was a great reminder to take care of Mama because you cannot give if you are on empty. It also offers research based advice on how to handle day to day difficult toddler events and personal stories as support. Many parenting books I have purchased have simply overwhelmed me. I easily finished this one and at the end felt refreshed and empowered to tackle the day with my two toddler boys.
