Paula Altenburg’s new series, Grand, Montana begins with Dan McKillop’s story in The Montana Sheriff…Dan made appearances in the McGregor Brothers series also taking place in Grand, Montana. The Montana Sheriff introduces Jazz, a fiery Firefighter/Smokejumper working towards a promotion by establishing a Smokejumper training base of operations at the airbase on the Endeavour Ranch, in which Dan is co-owners with his long time friends Ryan and Dallas…after they’ve inherited a multi-billion dollar estate. With her trademark wildly appealing and relatable characters, Ms Altenburg’s story immerses the reader in the working of the operations of a Smokejumpers base of operations, as well creates an immediate emotional bond with both Dan’s and Jazz. The dialog moves the story quickly, while the relationship between Dan, Dallas, and Ryan sets the foundation for the bond that’ll drive the series. I’m definitely looking forward to both Dallas and Ryan’s story…based on his vague background, Ryan’s feels like it just may be grittier than the first two. This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This series centers around three friends that more like brothers. A friendship that was made stronger after their encounter with the law during their college years. Now that the trio has inherited a ranch , they have become billionaires. Their backgrounds might be different , but the bond is unbreakable. In this first book, Sheriff Dan McKillop gets his story. Devoted to his job and considered a ladies man, he guards his heart. His heart was broken once and all he wants nowadays is to have fun. What he never expected was to meet and fall for adrenaline junkie, Jazz/Jasmine O’Reilly. A firefighter and smokejumper with a less than stellar family and a difficult childhood . She too is not interested in a relationship. But what happens when feelings develop? Will Jazz nix her professional dreams ? Is there an alternative? Is she willing to risk her heart? This was an engaging story from the first page to the last. The main characters were likable . I appreciated that the female character was a strong woman. This first book of the series started out with a bang and now I can’t wait for what else the author has in store for us in book two. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The Montana Sheriff by Paula Altenburg. A dynamite start to a new series. The Montana Sheriff drew me in from the first page and kept me intrigued until the last page. I can't wait to read more books in the Grand, Montana series.
