About this ebook

Sheā€™s pregnant without nookie. Someone lied to her about the birds and the bees.

Ā

Being kidnapped by aliens isnā€™t so bad, especially as it allows Jess to be close to a certain handsome healer. She thinks heā€™s more interested in his tests and her genetic code than in her as a woman, until a hot encounter proves just how wrong she was.

Ā

When Laarn is called away to the battlefield, she gets treatment from the automated systems in his lab. Button-mashing alien tech? Not a good idea. Now sheā€™s pregnant without a sniff of between the sheets action.Ā

Ā

Whatā€™s worse, thereā€™s a bunch of fanatics loose in the palace trying to kill her and her babyā€¦

Ā

Duty or desire. He canā€™t have both...

Ā

Laarnā€™s scars mark his rank as the best healer in the empire, but Jessica, the beautiful human female who holds his interest, wonā€™t even look at them. He wants her, but his duty lies in saving his people.Ā

Ā

Until everything changes. A lost strand of DNA in the human code, hidden in Jessā€™s genetic material, could mean a cure. Sheā€™s the key to the latharā€™s future, and his own.

Ā

Between a pregnancy, mating marks, and a fanatic out to kill the woman he loves, can Laarn remain detached enough to do his dutyā€¦ or will he give into emotion and save his heart?

This is book 3 in the series, and though each are technically standalone, definitely read the first one or you just won't get as much out of this. The second isn't absolutely necessary, but it was dang fun. Written in second person perspective from the two main leads' point of view. This is Laarn and Jess's book (we saw this coming from book 1, no surprise). Laarn is Tarrick's (from book 1) twin brother and the foremost healer of the Lathar race. That pretty much means that he can handle more pain than anyone else, ever, as well as being an amazing doctor. All that said, he doesn't feel he can or should take a mate. Jessica is making that really REALLY hard. I meant that in all ways. This book is half him fighting the good fight against the mating, even though EVERYBODY is for it but him (I really like Daaynall more and more), and the other half figuring out what that means to them. Laarn is a great guy, really, and much less...persnickety than his twin. Jessica is not the marine that Jane is, nor the leader that Cat is. She's a pretty low key, shy individual while still being a soldier. I like that despite all that, she continues to pursue Laarn and doesn't give up easily. Stubborn, the both of them. She gets righteously angry despite that quiet demeanor when she accidentally gets knocked up without any fun involved. The fact that she's so quiet and unassuming makes that even more awesome to watch play out. The book is full of action, a good bit of blood and gore, some interesting healing practices, furthering the whole trying to save the race agenda, a dose of steam, some touching family moments, a new mission, and a crazy bunch of alien zealots. Good times all around, I say.
