About the author

R.J. Crayton loves "what if" questions. What if the government wanted to steal your organs? What if you were kidnapped and didn't know why, by whom or long you were going to be held? What if a deadly virus started a pandemic that threatened to wipe out civilization? What if...?

Crayton honed her "what if" thinking as a reporter, working for great newspapers like The Wichita Eagle and The Kansas City Star, where she got to annoy local officials with what ifs. She also worked for several trade publications, including Solid Waste Report, Education Technology News, and Campus Crime. Again, more what ifs.

The tables turned on Crayton when she became a stay-at-home mother caring for her children, and she got stuck answering "what if" questions. After her children were old enough to attend school and ask the teachers the questions, Crayton began writing novels. Her first novel, Life First, was published in 2013. It's premise is based on the question: What if the government wanted to take your kidney and give to someone else? The answer is the wild ride that is Life First, a BRAG Medallion book. Since penning Life First, Crayton has published two other novels, a short story collection and a book on writing.

When she's not writing, Crayton spends her time being a ninja mom (stealthy and ultra cool, like moms should be) to her son and daughter. While she lives in the Washington, DC, suburbs at the moment, she loves to travel back to Illinois to visit family. You can find out more about her at http://rjcrayton.com.
