Escape in You

I don't know what it is about this book but it had me hooked. I had some serious cackle moments, so witty and funny and thrilling and sweet. Loved it!

I had a rough childhood. Anything from abusive and neglectful parents to being sexually abused by the family friend to witnessing affair after affair was what the norm was for. Having experienced so much hurt and betrayal, I was pretty numb to feeling anything good. I never believed in love, marriage, or happy endings. If anyone told me I would be head over heels in love with a friend from high school, planning our wedding, and picking out names for the kids we'll have...I'd never believe them.

The time you feel you had to be drunk to deal with your messed up life is the time you need to quit drinking to excess, because you know in your heart it only leads to further destruction. Do not wait till you could damage innocent lives before realizing the mistake of your poor decisions. Having to give up on your dreams does not mean you had to give up on life. This is an emotional rollercoaster with all the sh*tty problems and adult obligations these two characters have. Wonderful real life love story. Kudos to the author, she handled the critical tearjerker scenes well.
