About this ebook

When all you need is beauty, and the Devil’s serving boy needs you to play dead—with Hella, the Norse Goddess of Death.

Ruby Rush lost her face to a fire and has been in hiding ever since. When her best friend brings her a magical mirror, she finds herself through the looking glass with Roger Rok, a demigod son of the Norse God of Love.

He’s looking for a berserker sword to stop the end of the world, and in return for her help, promises her a beauty beyond her wildest dreams. But bargains, as well as mirrors and hearts, are made to be broken—especially when Ruby comes face to face with Hella and is whisked away to her icy realm of death.

While Ruby fends with Hella, Roger must deal with the conflicting desires of Odin, Loki, Hella, and Freya while a shapeshifting horsefly turned cockatoo leads or misleads them on their journey to stop Ragnarok.

Ruby tries to protect her heart, and Roger does his best to charm and protect her into helping him navigate modern day San Francisco. As the end of the world draws near, will Ruby discover that Roger’s professed love is not an illusion? More importantly, will Ruby and Roger find what they’re truly looking for?

Red Hexed: Ruby is definitely not my preferred gene, but I was charmed by this mythological parable. The contrast between the Norse world and modern San Francisco is a great technique. Roger searches for love and a sword to stop the end of the world. Ruby who was beautiful before a disastrous accident has a great deal to learn when she can no longer depend on her physical appearance. I truly enjoyed this well plotted book and the lessons it teaches.

Red Hexed is a wildly fun and wonderfully heart-felt journey into the very core of what makes us human. The heart can be many things, but above all it yearns for a deep connection and real love. Without those things, life becomes a series of random and meaningless sparks of longing. When Fate turns our plans upside down, can we learn to adjust and move on, or will we find ourselves stuck and unwilling to move from the nostalgia of the past? Ruby was a victim of bad circumstances that forever changed her. She is stuck mourning her loss and unable to move past the pain. A promise of hope brings with it more danger then she ever imagined. After all if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Roger has a mission that he must succeed at completing at all costs otherwise he can't bear to think of the consequences. With a horrid and disappointing past, he now focuses on the possibilities of the future. What he doesn't count on is his heart getting away from him and chasing after the most unlikely woman imaginable. When love gets involved nothing goes as planned. Will Ruby help Roger find the item of his obsession, or will she someone become that object through happenstance and a little magic? If you want to talk about a most unlikely pair, then Ruby and Roger are perfect. Roger has only ever tried to be the best he could be in order to be loved. When that endeavor failed, he obediently did what was demanded of him with no hope of a reward. We don't chose the life given to us. All we can do is try to live it the best way we can. Ruby on the other hand basked in the benefits that her stunning beauty brought her. She had no thoughts for the future, but only for what she could get now. She assumed that she could earn the love of those around her by using her power of beauty to capture their hearts and hold it forever. When tragedy ravages Ruby's life, can she ever hope to recognize and answer the siren call of her fated mate? Will they both see that the future they desperately want is within their reach of they will only let go of their pain and disappointment of the past? Rachelle Ayala continues to charm and delight us with this new addition to her fantastic mythology series. She digs deep into the heart of her wonderful characters and shows us that beauty lives even the most unlikely of places. Don't close your eyes and your heart to those around you because you never know when the ability to love the unexpected can be exactly what you need. This life is hard enough to navigate day by day, so don't make it harder by throwing away something that would help to pass the days and years with a extraordinary love and an unquenchable joy.
