About this ebook

From the top of the Adirondack Northway to the precipitous drop that creates Niagara Falls, Hiking Waterfalls New York provides all of the information readers need to find their way to waterfalls hidden in the crevices of the Catskill Mountains, high on the faces of the High Peaks, flowing through magnificent gorges into the Finger Lakes, or deep in the backcountry of the Southern Tier. Detailed driving and hike descriptions include slices of history and glimpses of geology. GPS coordinates, maps, and color photos of 100 of the state's best waterfalls make certain that hikers and sightseers will find their way to these sparking gems, whether they can be seen from the roadside or at the end of a lengthy trail.

About the author

Husband-and-wife team Randi and Nic Minetor have collaborated on eighteen books about hiking, exploring historic cities, America’s national parks, and birds and nature. Their popular books on outdoor activities in New York State include five books in FalconGuides’ Best Easy Day Hikes series—on Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, and the Hudson River Valley—as well as Hiking the Lower Hudson River Valley, Hiking Through History New York, Scenic Driving New York, and two previous editions of Hiking Waterfalls New York. Avid birders and seasoned road trippers, the Minetors also collaborated on Backyard Birding and Butterfly Gardening for Lyons Press. Randi also revised the most recent editions of New York Off the Beaten Path and Hiking New York.

When not in the car or on the trail, Randi is a journalist in theater technology, municipal water management, architecture, and medicine, and Nic is the resident lighting designer for several theater and opera companies in upstate New York. The Minetors live in Rochester, New York.
