Just brilliant. Interesting doesn't even begin to cover it. Absorbing, fascinating, 'oh my goodness i have to tell my husband this' kind of detail. An open, honest - i think - humble account of time spent at the extreme. I would never put myself through any of it but i'm full of puzzled admiration for those who do, and lacking the drive to do such bonkers things, i'm always curious to read about that drive in others.

About the author
Ranulph Fiennes was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE). One of Britain's most infamous explorers, he has raised over 14million for charity and was named Best Sportsman in the 2007 ITV Great Briton Awards. In 2009 he became the oldest Briton to reach the summit of Everest.
