About this ebook

The groundbreaking, bestselling classic, now available in a special fortieth-anniversary edition that includes a new Foreword from Eben Alexander, M.D., author of Proof of Heaven, and a new Afterword by the author.

Raymond Moody is the “father” of the modern NDE (Near Death Experience) movement, and his pioneering work Life After Life transformed the world, revolutionizing the way we think about death and what lies beyond. Originally published in 1975, it is the groundbreaking study of one hundred people who experienced “clinical death” and were revived, and who tell, in their own words, what lies beyond death.

A smash bestseller that has sold more than thirteen million copies around the globe, Life After Life introduced us to concepts—including the bright light, the tunnel, the presence of loved ones waiting on the other side—that have become cultural memes today, and paved the way for modern bestsellers by Eben Alexander, Todd Burpo, Mary Neal, and Betty Eadie that have shaped countless readers notions about the end life and the meaning of death.

When I was 19 years old I had a "Near Death Experience" I suffered a high speed (ice skating) impact with rock hard ice against my forehead. I immediately found myself floating in a place of darkness, I was confused as to where I was and how I got there. I felt fully conscious and aware, physically I felt better than I had ever felt in my young life though I didn't seem to have a physical body. Some period of time passed and I began to see an approaching light, it was incredibly bright but comforting and seemed to be welcoming me. I believe I was enveloped in that light but at some point was brought back to consciousness and in the worst pain I had ever felt. I believe more than I can recall happened to me while in that light. I believe that knowledge was kept from me to allow me to continue down my mortal path. I never mentioned this to anyone because I had no way to explain the experience. It wasn't until I was in my early 30s when I came across Dr Moody's book and realized what I had gone through. I remember that experience as if it had just happened. Dr Moody's book has helped thousands understand the NDE and why they had such experiences. I am grateful to Dr Moody and the other NDE researchers who have brought to light these experiences. We now have tools to understand what these experiences are and to truly know that life does not end but instead goes on through eternity. What a great comfort it is to know that life goes on and that our life experiences and knowledge don't just simply evaporate at our death.

The book answers a lot of my questions without stating definitively that there is life after death. It does encourage you to research and seek information about this phenomena.
