About this eBook

In the middle of the apocalypse, school is still in session.

Brock is at the helm of a group of survivors, and with the herd gone, things were supposed to be looking up.

Unfortunately, the survivors learn that hope has a price, and in their uncertainty they look to Brock to lead them once again.

But he’s out of plans and the dead are swarming.

Facing a long, empty road that would surely mean starvation or worse, an unlikely ally comes forth with new information.

A school on the edge of town has flourished, and their doors were always open.

Caught between a rock and a dead place, Brock takes a chance on the school and leads his people into what may turn out to be yet another costly mistake…

About the author

David Viergutz is a disabled Army veteran, law enforcement veteran, a husband and proud father. He's also a storyteller, an author of horror and thriller novels.

As a teenager, David would often be found dragging a backpack full of books to class, leaving his textbooks behind. He was always captivated by the worlds that authors like Nix, Tolkien, King and Patterson created, and he dreamed of one day creating his own. Years went by and David found himself serving his country in the military, and later in law enforcement. The experiences he had during those years were both thrilling and terrifying, and they left a deep impression on him. David always talked about writing a book, and one day his wife sat him down and gave him the confidence he needed to start putting his imagination on paper. From then on, his creativity knew no bounds and he poured his heart and soul into his writing.

Now, David weaves tales of pulse-pounding realism and nightmare-inducing horror where his years in uniform have given him an unparalleled edge into crafting characters who come alive on the page. — and sometimes die there too. David holds an MFA in Creative Writing and moonlights as a staff writer at Indie Author Magazine. He is the host of The Nightmare Engine Podcast and can be reached at https://davidviergutz.com.
