Rebel's Karma

I love the Dark Protectors series so much. I'm always excited for each new book to release. This is book 13, which features Benny and Karma. I enjoyed spending time with them. They were so good together. I loved how Benny tried to curb some of his crazy, while helping Karma realize she can kick butt with the best of them. It was good to see Karma come of her shell (being with the enemy Kurjans and Cysts would beat anyone down). Plus we got to see someof the other characters in the series - including Hope, Pax, and Drake. The only thing I missed in this book was some backstory on Benny. I wanted to know a little bit more about what makes him who he is. We're moving ever closer to the final showdown between the Dark Protectors and the Kurjans/Cysts. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Benny!!!! I have loved him since he was first introduced many books ago. I didn’t realize this author intended to give him his own story, although he’s definitely one of the most interesting and engaging characters of the series. As all heroes in this series, Benny is extremely protective of his family and friends and of the brotherhood of the Seven. But he’s even more so with Karma. Karma has an unusual history when compared to the other women of the Seven or even the Realm. Her current situation is one that she’s lived with for centuries but after a brief encounter with Benny, years ago, the Kurjan have new plans for her and are using her children as the impetus to make her fulfill them. She’s sweet and gentle and loves romance books because of the strong heroines she finds within the pages. Watching her morph from who she has been trained to be into someone she wants to be was wonderful. This is a fast read with a lot of action. We continue to get a few looks at Hope, Drake and Paxton and I have to admit that I’ve got definite opinions on which of the two I’m hoping she ends up with. Although, I do wonder if Ms. Zanetti isn’t deliberately playing with us. With the continued addition of the rest of the Seven as well as other favorite characters, this was such an entertaining read. So much so that I’m already clamoring for the next book!

This is my first Dark Protector's book and I loved it. Such a fun world that she has created. I very much enjoyed getting to know the world in which they live and the love story between Benny and Karma. Despite not having read one of these before, and it's the thirteenth in the series, I had no problem following along and definitely plan to dive into the series from the beginning! The book starts off dropping you right into the action - Benny has been captured by his enemies in order to rescue Karma, whom he recognized as his mate when he met her several years before. I think part of what helped me follow along in this new world, was that Benny's world was also somewhat new to Karma as well, so I was able to learn some of the backstory as she learns it. Both Benny and Karma had a lot of interesting layers to them. Benny seems to be very lighthearted and funny, but incredibly serious when it comes to anything to do with Karma. Karma has a lot of layers to her, she is holding secrets and finding her way in the world and with Benny. I loved seeing how both of them grew as their relationship moved forward.
